So you JUST went vegan? What the hell do you do now? What do you buy? Well, START HERE!
I find a lot of blog posts just provide a lot of ingredients and no real meal ideas, for a new vegan is like giving a toddler an encyclopedia when they ask, “Why?”. It just doesn’t make sense.
Firstly, what did you eat before you went vegan? Grilled cheese? Chicken nuggets? Enchiladas? Mashed potatoes? Chinese food? All of that can be made or bought vegan. If you’re OBSESSED with your great grandma’s meatloaf recipe, MAKE IT VEGAN! I have a separate blog post on how to make anything vegan HERE!
Figuring out what to eat when you first go vegan is a lot easier when you pick some recipes and scatter them throughout the week. I normally double whatever I’m making for dinner and then eat leftovers for lunch the next day. I made my downloadable guide super easy to use for meal planning.
Basically, fill in all the days of what you are planning to eat, you don’t have to follow it perfectly, but it did help me feel more prepared during my transition. After you fill in all of the days with meals, go through and figure out what you need to make them. Either search on Pinterest, my blog, or good ole Google.

After finding all of the ingredients needed, write them down on the ingredients page. Check one of the boxes on the right side if you already have the ingredient at home or need to buy it. Whatever you don’t have, add to your shopping list on the next page! Super simple and WAY less intimidating than it seems.
Shopping when you first go vegan is scary. There are so many foods that you wouldn’t think are vegan, but a lot are! Here’s a list from Peta of accidentally vegan foods.
Quick tip! Stick to the perimeter of the grocery store, fruits, veggies, grains, and non-dairy milk.
