Lately, I feel like I have been lacking in the creativity department. I am unmotivated to make things because I’m scared it’s not going to turn out the way I want it to, or no one will like it, normal reasons I suppose. I think it’s normal to get into a creative funk every once in a while, so I try and not to feel bad about it.
Instead of dwelling on how uncreative or unmotivated you’re feeling, follow these tips and see how you feel after! Sometimes our brains get overworked and need some R&R, just like our bodies do after a long workout.
So without further ado, here are my five tips on how to combat that creative funk!
What do I do when I’m feeling uncreative?
Go outside for a walk
Earth day is on Sunday (April 22nd), so why not go outside and enjoy the Earth! Pick up some trash and recycle it while you’re at it. When you’re done, you’ll feel more accomplished and relax. It’s a win for you and a win for the Earth!
Unplug and unwind
You might actually be burnt out from working yourself too hard and need some R&R. Don’t beat yourself up over it and LISTEN TO YOUR BODY! If you’re normally super creative and you’re not feeling that way lately, then your body is telling you it’s tired. Don’t stress, just relax.

Talk it out with someone
Sometimes all you need is a little chat with another human to make yourself feel human again. Laying your feelings all out on the table about your latest project with a third party can bring a new perspective to you.
Remove yourself from your environment
Leave your room, the library, your desk, wherever you work, and do something else. Do something mindless like coloring, playing video games, or anything else you like to do. When your mind can wander, it might just wander into a great new idea.

Turn off the TV
I find when I’m viewing someone else’s work, it makes me feel less creative. It might inspire me to want to create, but I find it hard to come up with my own ideas, especially if I have someone’s project in the back of my mind.
Thanks so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed or learned something from this post!

P.S. Sorry I have been MIA again. I’m going through some personal things with my mental health and some things with family right now. I want to be as open as I can with my followers, but sometimes you just gotta practice some self-care! I hope you guys understand!
